Clap If You Like Kent’s Folk Fest

This advertisement is from an ad campaign for Kent State University’s 44th  annual Folk Festival. The ads were created by one of the top ad agencies in Cleveland, Marcus Thomas. “Be Here to Hear It,” is the slogan they created for the campaign that aims to remind music lovers of some recently forgotten musical truths.

Each ads touches on the Festival’s different acts, but the strategy of each is attract younger adults to attend the festival. This was a new approach for the Folk Fest because the typical audience is usually over 35. The benefit was to show individuals that a live experience is greater than streaming music off the internet. I also feel that they’re trying to push younger adults to go out and do something other than being online.

I really enjoyed the design of the ads, especially the detail in the border with the unplugged outlet.
