So comfortable you’ll forget they’re on.

This advertisement for Clarks was created by Brokaw, a Cleveland ad agency.

Although this ad incorporates sex appeal, the main promotion in this ad is brand image.  The man in the advertisement has nothing but his shoes on.   The ad does a nice job drawing the reader in, making them take a second look.

The strategy of this Clarks ad is to prove the comfort level of Clarks shoes. The headline of the ad reads, “So comfortable you’ll forget they’re on.”  The man in the ad has stripped himself of his clothes; however, his shoes are so comfortable, he forgets he is even wearing them.  Other ads in this campaign show the same hairy legs. One ad shows the legs soaked up with soap and hands scrubbing the legs. Of course the Clarks are on the man’s feet. Another ad shoes the hairy legs diving into a pool. The shoes, again, are on the feet.  The company wanted readers to know that Clarks shoes are so comfortable, it will feel as though the user isn’t wearing shoes at all. Even in situations in which shoes are not necessary.
