This is a 1990 advertisement for CHANEL.

CHANEL ads usually follow the same format; they are simple, use little color, and the strategy behind the ads are usually one word: Class. This ad is clearly not saying much besides the fact that you will be classy and that most people who purchase CHANEL are of higher class. Also, this ad is showing sexiness. It’s targeted at upper class women telling them they will be sexy and have class at the same time.

CHANEL uses the same strategy today. If you look at this ad and another CHANEL ad in a magazine published today, chances are they will not be too different. I think you could even use this ad in a magazine today and have the same effect on people.
