Gucci’s strategy with this advertisement is to get people excited for their spring collection. Gucci does this by using a few of Robert Settle and Pamela Alreck’s  shopping list of needs.

The most obvious I think is sexuality. Clearly these are two attractive people doing what attractive people do best, and looking good in Gucci while doing it. This conveys to the audience that Gucci can help you be sexy. The second characteristic is exhibition. The bright yellow against the monochromatic backdrop makes her stand out, which is exactly what you’ll do if you show up wearing Gucci. This ad also triggers a sense of novelty with me as well. Where are these people? They don’t really look like they belong there so perhaps they’re traveling somewhere new and unexpected together. An escape from the ordinary and being free to do so. Which could also fall under the independence category as well.
